Bowery Ballroom and Summer Tour schedule

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for coming out to our Bowery Ballroom show last Friday night, we had an amazing night and the other bands on the bill were awesome, our friends These United States and The Mother Hips.  Good people good bands all over.  Check ze pics below.

More shows coming soon as you can see, and we’re touring the Northeast, Midwest, and Canada this summer and playing with bands we’re huge fans of – Damien Jurado and The Acorn among them!  For our show schedule click here: http://theloommusic.com/temporary/shows

Delivering that sunshine and Lonestar to you…

We wish you all could have been at the Muzzle of Bees Backyard BBQ with us.  Joe and Christina’s home was an idyllic setting for a stellar lineup of bands.  Luckily, as we mentioned, the Duke Street Blog took some really high-quality video of the show, so that you can all enjoy a little of that Texas sun and smoke, too.

SXSW, Finale

Wow, what a grand time.  Thanks Austin for the hot weather, sunburn, taco shacks, Lone Star, new friends and freaking great music.  We had a blast playing 8 shows in 4 days at all sorts of venues from The Ghost Room (thanks Ryan and friends at Austin Town Hall for having us) to the local Moose Lodge (at which copious amounts of free pancakes were served – not necessarily the most rock ‘n roll meal choice, but satisfying nonetheless).

Probably the highlight of our week was organizing the Muzzle of Bees Backyard Barbecue (show review Here).  We had some of our favorite bands on the bill – The Rural Alberta Advantage, The Love Language, These United States, Roadside Graves, Still Life Still and many more.  Plus 400 sausages, 3 kegs, and 6 cases of beer, all consumed by evening’s end.  Much thanks to our pals Joe and Christina for hosting in their backyard and hand-making the stage, which was beautifully smashed by Jesse of These United States (seriously through Jesse, no hard feelings).  The whole show was taped live by Daytrotter and there’s also videos by the Duke Street Blog.

Here’s some photos from the road…Austin, hope to see you again soon.

SXSW, Part 1: Here we go!

So, it’s the night before (well, morning of, actually) the day we head off to to Austin for our week of shows.  The van is about to be picked up,  the gear’s been checked, and we’ve got our sets all planned.  That being said, this is the first we’ve been out to Austin, and to SXSW, and we’re very excited (if a little frazzled). We have eight shows planned for this week, from Wednesday the 17th through Saturday the 20th, and they are all completely free and require no badge; most are open to the public without RSVP, but check venues and promoters for details. You can see the complete list of our shows on our SXSW info page.

We’ll  be sure to check in with you all as we go… If you’re not able to be in Austin, you’ll be able to check out what’s going on day-to-day via Twitter– Jon A. and China, as the most technologically hip among us, plan to phone-tweet updates from the shows.

Things we’re looking forward to (aside from getting to play great shows and promote the new album): eating ourselves silly, catching up with friends like Joe Boyle (our former guitarist and host of one the shows) and The Rural Alberta Advantage, spending too much time together in the van, getting away from rain and out into the sunshine,  showing folks our lovely new poster (at the top of the post, by David Bean), avoiding equipment malfunctions, and playing to new audiences.

Wish us luck!

Lis

Works in Progress

Thanks for visiting The Loom’s new website.

We’ve been really busy lately recording the album and gearing up for SXSW, and we figured that it would help to have a better online home base to let you know about all the things we’re up to.

This site is run in WordPress, a great blogging platform that is also really flexible as a way to build any kind of website. We’re still working out the kinks, so if you run into trouble, please let me know– comments are always welcome!

In the future, you’ll be able to use this site to get to do a lot of useful things, like see our tour and show information, read our blog, find links to our other online homes (like Twitter, and Facebook), buy or listen to our music, watch videos, or learn more about the band. Promoters and music writers will also be able to find links to our electronic press kit (EPK), download high res photos, and contact us for bookings or interviews.

If you have suggestions for the site, please let me know!

Thanks,

Lis and The Loom
